Why don’t the manufacturers do this?

The simple answer is they do! Mass production means cheaper build costs for manufacturers. By building the same gearbox numerous times, and setting it up differently in software they can build one piece of hardware and use it in multiple models or variants within their range. If we look at the DSG gearbox used by VW/Audi the shift patterns and shift speed permitted through the same physical gearbox is far higher in S and RS models than in the standard A models.

Will remapping my gearbox increase fuel consumption?

Not at all, quite the opposite in-fact. Quicker gear shifts and earlier transmission locking provide a more efficient gearbox. A higher percentage of the engine power makes it to the wheels earlier in the rev range and the engine is driving the wheels more of the time. The result of these efficiency changes is reduced fuel consumption.

Engine carbon deposits have a measurable effect on performance, emissions and fuel economy. Routine carbon cleaning has been shown to prevent these problems, and remedial cleaning removes more severe deposits that have already formed.

Carbon deposits have been a problem for the Internal combustion engine since it was invented. It is a known fact that carbon deposits in Internal Combustion Engines reduce engine performance, reduce fuel efficiency, shorten engine/equipment/parts life and increase engine out emissions.

In the quest to improve engine performance, reduce pollutants in the atmosphere and increase engine fuel efficiency. Governments all over the world are increasing emission regulations.

To meet these ever increasing regulations manufacturers are employing additional emission controls to the Internal Combustion engines. Simply put, the manufactures are asking the Internal combustion engine to do more things than it was ever designed to do. As a result, the carbon deposit problem has become more frequent and severe, creating a whole new set of problems and challenges.

Many technicians and managers are well aware that severe combustion chamber carbon build up can create significant drivability issues with today’s engines. It’s all too rare, however, for them to focus on the fact that carbon build up and slowly deteriorating injector performance is a gradual process that not only affects engine performance but fuel economy as well.  Despite this info, the vast majority of these potential issues remain unsolved.

How Does it Work?

Electric current is used to split water by electrolysis into its components, pure hydrogen and oxygen gases, commonly referred to as HHO.  To allow electric current to flow easily an electrolyte (potassium hydroxide, KOH) is added to the water. The gases flow to a large bubbler filled with water which serves as a flashback arrestor.

The gases are highly effective in removing carbon deposits inside the engine using a simple procedure that requires no engine dismantling.  All that is required is for the Carbon Cleaner connected to a power supply and the HHO gases be fed into the engines air intake while it idles:

• The engine is brought up to normal operating temperature
• The air filter or intake hose is loosened
• HHO gas is fed into the air intake.
• The engine is left idling for approx. 30 minutes (or more depending on the engine size) with occasional revving, during which the carbon deposits are progressively removed and pass out through the exhaust pipe.  The combination of oxygen enrichment and the hydrogen accelerant gently loosens & burns off carbon deposits. Water vapour, carbon dioxide and carbon is carried out in the exhaust.  
• Cleans pistons crowns, valves, frees sticking turbo vanes, maintains EGR valves
• Restores full air and exhaust gas flow and hence restores performance
• Reduces emissions
• Restores BHP, Torque & MPG

Simple Fast and Effective

Example being, the engine doesn’t get worked hard & hot, then yes it will most likely have more carbon build up. Taxis and buses are prime examples as they are sat idling and often short stop-start journeys at low speeds & RPM.

If your car is suffering reduced MPG and if the cause is carbon build up then yes the engine clean should recover/reclaim that MPG lost due to the internals / components being dirty.

IF (and it’s always a IF) ANY aspect of your cars performance (noise, roughness, idling, hunting, MPG lower, emissions, flat spots, throttle response, sticking EGR/throttle body/swirl flaps) are affected from carbon build up then the Carbon Cleaning will have a positive effect.

Of course, any mechanical aspect (swirl flaps for example or EGR valve, turbo) has seized/blocked completely or broken in which case no amount of carbon cleaning will sort it.

Carbon cleaning can’t fix things that are fully blocked or broken these would need to be replaced, stripped and cleaned, fixed, all a carbon clean can do is exactly that.

The most common customer for this service is to look at it like preventative maintenance you’re stopping issues before they can start – It’s highly recommended to have this procedure done along side your yearly service, more often if you fall into the category of our private hire / taxi clients.
