Stage 3 is not a universal specification
Stage labels are convenient shorthand, not a technical standard. On one platform Stage 3 may mean a hybrid turbo and uprated fuel system; on another it may involve a completely different forced-induction or engine package. AutoLab begins with the actual component list and control strategy rather than assuming that the label defines the job.
Bespoke calibration means developing the system as a whole
A modified engine may require work across torque modelling, load and boost control, wastegate strategy, fuel delivery, lambda targets, ignition, variable camshaft control, sensor scaling, rev or speed limits and temperature-based protection. The relevant areas depend on the ECU family and hardware. Changes must remain coherent instead of forcing one request table to produce a headline number.
Logging, review and dialling-in
Custom work is assessed through relevant datalogging and controlled testing. Requested and achieved values are compared, intervention or correction is investigated and revisions are made where the data supports them. The purpose is repeatable behaviour across the usable operating range—not a single aggressive pull that hides weak control elsewhere.
Engine and gearbox strategy together
On modern torque-based vehicles, the ECU and TCU exchange calculated and permitted torque continuously. DSG, S tronic, supported TCU and BMW xHP gearbox calibration can be considered alongside the engine where required, helping the drivetrain respond consistently to the developed output.
What AutoLab needs before accepting a project
Provide the exact vehicle, ECU and gearbox where known, full hardware specification, fuel, previous software history, intended use, current symptoms and any available logs. Some builds need mechanical or diagnostic work before calibration begins, and compatibility must be confirmed individually.
